Candace joined Phi Mu at Louisiana State University in 1965, where she served as Pledge Class President and Panhellenic Delegate.  Her involvement with HAPA began in 1991.  She has served in almost every board position including 2 terms as Ways & Means Chair and HAPA President 2017-2018. 

Candace has served several terms with the HAPA Foundation and was President 1998-2000.  She received the HAPA Citation Award in 1999.   In 2015, Ms. Turner was selected as an Honorary Board Member and in May of 2021, she was designated as Honorary Board Member Emerita.

Candace is a member of Houston Junior Woman’s Club and served as its President 1991-1992.  She was recently honored for 40 years of service to HJWC.

Other community involvement has been Hope Center for Youth, Ronald McDonald House, and 15 years serving as a volunteer at Texas Children’s Hospital.

Candace is a member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church where she sings in the Chancel Choir and plays in the handbell ensemble.   Candace and husband Weems recently celebrated 54 years of marriage and have 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren.
